Kharafi plans meeting with all MPs to deliver Amir’s message; Blocs urged to go ahead with implementation of programmes

Taken from Arab Times – KUWAIT CITY: “I am planning to invite all MPs for a meeting in my office Monday afternoon to deliver a fatherly message from HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and discuss other important issues in the interest of Kuwait,” says Parliament Speaker Jassem Al-Khorafi. Al-Khorafi made this remark after meeting HH the Amir on Saturday.
Sources say Al-Khorafi is still upset with the language used in the Parliament recently when the first report of the Public Fund Protection Committee was discussed. Meanwhile, the government has urged leaders of all major political blocs in the country to go ahead with the implementation of various programmes which were approved by both the Parliament and government.
A reliable source said Deputy Premier, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Faisal Al-Hajji told these leaders the government is upset with the delay in the approval of several important laws. Indicating Al-Khorafi is expected to discuss the reasons behind the sudden escalations against some ministers during his meeting with MPs, the source “the Speaker is also expected to pacify the lawmakers and remind them about the desire of HH the Amir to allow the current government to work for at least one year.”
The government should also take some responsibility for the sudden increase in disputes, as some ministers discriminate between MPs while processing the paper work of their supporters, he noted. In other developments, Deputy Director of Foreign Medical Treatment Department Dr Hassan Al-Awadi says “some MPs are politically blackmailing the Health Ministry by highlighting only the negative points and hiding the achievements of this department.”
This has forced Health Minister Dr Maasouma Al-Mubarak to prevent MPs from submitting the applications of patients without the power of attorney, he added. In the meantime, MP Khudair. Al-Enezi said the exchange of accusations and unparliamentary words in last Tuesday’s session were unnecessary as all the accusations should have been referred to the Public Funds Protection Committee, adding “grilling cannot be justified unless MPs have enough evidence and a strong case.” MP Dr Ali Al-Omair said cooperation between the government and Parliament has nothing to do with the usage of grilling, which is a legitimate Constitutional tool. “We have a strong case against some ministers who have committed mistakes,” he added.
Please pray with us for Mr.Kharafi during his meeting with the MPs, ask for wisdom and favour in order see peace between the Parliament and Government, to fulfil what God wants to this nation.
Also please pray for the Ministers to be Bold and keep on their ways to improve the nation.
