طليقة المعرس تعترف بإحراق خيمة العرس

عاشت الكويت أمس، ولليوم الثاني على التوالي، تحت وطأة كارثة عرس الجهراء، التي ادخلت الألم الى كل بيت في الكويت من أقصاها الى أقصاها، فألغى سمو أمير البلاد تقبل التهاني بمناسبة رمضان المبارك. فيما ان الحريق، الذي تسبب في المأساة، كان بفعل فاعل ارتكبته طليقة المعرس، التي اعترفت بانها أشعلت الخيمة بمن فيها، بعدما سكبت عليها البنزين، انتقاما من زوجها السابق في يوم عرسه. المفاجأة من العيار الثقيل كشفها مصدر أمني، موضحا ان المتهمة، البالغة من العمر 23 عاما، انكرت في بداية التحقيق معها في الادارة العامة للمباحث الجنائية بان تكون هي الجانية، مؤكدة انها لم تغادر منزل ذويها.

لكن رجال المباحث كانوا يملكون أدلة قبل التحقيق معها، بعدما تلقوا افادة من شاهدة عيان، وهي خادمة آسيوية تعمل لدى منزل جار المعرس، تؤكد أنها شاهدت المتهمة بالقرب من الخيمة. وعندما ضيق رجال المباحث الخناق على الجانية، رغم انكارها، ومواجهتها بأدلة اضافية حصلوا عليها من موقع الحادث، انهارت واعترفت لرجال المباحث بانها اشعلت النيران في الخيمة بأن سكبت البنزين واشعلت النار انتقاما من طليقها الذي كان يسيء معاملتها عندما كانا متزوجين.

وقد تطابقت اعترافات الطليقة مع افادات بعض المصابات والناجيات من الحادث، اللواتي اكدن ان النيران اندلعت بداية من الارض ثم امتدت الى بقية الخيمة.

واثبتت التقارير الأولية لرجال الادلة الجنائية وجود مادة سريعة الاشتعال في ارضية الخيمة، كما انها امتدت الى سيارة كانت تقف بالقرب منها.

وسيواصل رجال المباحث التحقيق مع المتهمة للكشف عن المزيد من المعلومات، فضلا عن التركيز عما اذا كان هناك متورطون آخرون معها.

من جهة اخرى ارتفع امس عدد ضحايا الحريق الى 43 بعد وفاة سيدة وطفلة، فيما اكد مصدر امني لـ{القبس} ان نحو 20 جثة موجودة في الطب الشرعي لم يتم التعرف عليها حتى الان بانتظار نتائج فحص الـ D.N.A

WEDDING TENT GUTTED, 80 INJURED; 45 women perish in Jahra inferno

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: Forty-five women are believed to have perished in a fire that broke out in a marriage tent in Jahra according to initial estimates, Major General Jassem Al-Man-souri told the Arab Times Saturday. “The fire broke out at around 9.20 pm on Saturday in the tent allocated for women. Apart from the dead, 80 women are injured and have been rushed to hospital for treatment,” Al-Mansouri added. The nationalities of the deceased have not yet been determined. “The remains of the dead, some of which have been charred beyond recognition, will be subjected to DNA examination for identification.” Major Khalil Al-Amir, Manager Public Affairs at Kuwait Fire Department, said the cause of the fire is not yet known. “We are investigating. From initial investigations we know that there were fire safety equipments such as fire extinguishers in the tent. However, the exact causes that led to the fire and how it spread are being studied.”

Firemen were seen battling the blazes and sifting through the smoldering wreckage in the wedding tent. Al-Mansouri said fire fighters teams were continuing to recover dead bodies from a women’s tent wedding in Al-Oyoun area in Al-Jahra. Al-Mansouri said that the number of wounded might increase due to the large number of injuries as result of a stampede that followed eruption of the fire at the tent that was packed with people at the wedding. The official added four fire fighting teams were mobilized, including Al-Jahra, Al-Jahra Al-Harafi, Al-Sulaibeya, Al-Ardiya departments, in addition to help from specialized departments in combating the fire and transferring those injured to nearby hospitals. An investigation had been opened to know about the reason behind the fire, Al-Mansouri added.

Jahra wedding fire kills dozens

KUWAIT: Dozens of people were killed late yesterday when a fire broke out in a wedding tent in the Ayoun area of Jahra. Sources said all the victims were women. Rescue efforts were hampered because the burning tent collapsed on the women and the power supply failed. Many of the women were also killed in a stampede that ensued. Twenty fire trucks and dozens of firemen battled the blaze, while the injured were rushed to hospitals.

TV channels put the toll at more than 44. Incidentally the victims of yesterday’s fire, said to be from the Al-Enezi family, are relatives of a few ill-fated women who died in a similar accident in Jahra a few months ago.

The Director General of the Fire Department Major General Jassim Al-Mansouri earlier said fire fighters teams were continuing to recover dead bodies from the tent, noting that preliminary estimates put the number of fatalities at 13. Al-Mansouri said that the death toll could rise due to the large number of injuries as result of the stampede that followed the eruption of the fire at the tent that was packed with people.

The official added four fire fighter teams were mobilized, including Al-Jahra, Al-Jahra Al-Harafi, Al-Sulaibiya and Al-Ardiya departments, in addition to help from specialized departments in combating the fire and transferring those injured to nearby hospitals.

An investigation was opened to probe the reason behind the fire, Al-Mansouri added.
