يرجع تاريخ دولة الكويت الحديث إلى العام 1613م. و حكم آل الصباح الكويت منذ عام 1752. تقلد الحكم صباح بن جابر (الاول) بمبايعة شعبية اثر اختياره حاكماً من قبل الشعب، فكان صباح بن جابر أول حاكم من تلك الأسرة ، ويلقب أفراد العائلة الحاكمة بلقب شيخ أو شيخة في الوثائق الرسمية و يعتبر لقب شرفي. وتعود هذه العائلة بجذورها إلى قبيلة عنزة الوائلية. حيث يرجعون في نسبهم إلى قبيلة البجايدة اللتي هي جزء من قبيلة العمارات من عنزة وكانت منازلهم انذاك في منطقة القصيم و التي تقع حاليا في المملكة العربية السعودية.

Aab Times – KUWAIT (RTRS): HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah urged parliament on Monday to cooperate more with the government, weighing in to defuse a standoff that is threatening to delay key legislation. Kuwait’s parliament, which has a history of challenging the cabinet in a region where the public has little say, has been caught in a row with the government that led to the resignation of the last cabinet in March.

Taken from Arab Times – KUWAIT CITY: “I am planning to invite all MPs for a meeting in my office Monday afternoon to deliver a fatherly message from HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and discuss other important issues in the interest of Kuwait,” says Parliament Speaker Jassem Al-Khorafi. Al-Khorafi made this remark after meeting HH the Amir on Saturday.
Oil Minister said to mull resignation on ‘grilling’; Cabinet to consider issue
Taken from Arab Times – KUWAIT CITY: With many MPs intent on grilling him, Oil Minister Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah may resign on Sunday, say sources. “He will take a final decision on whether to continue in the Cabinet after meeting HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah,” they added.

Kuwait keeps key posts unchanged in new cabinet
Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah formed a new cabinet on Sunday and kept key posts unchanged.
The health minister, Sheikh Ahmad who last month was accused of financial and administrative violations was replaced.

KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah yesterday kicked off customary consultations on the formation of the new Cabinet as MPs called for forming a government of statesmen capable of taking decisions. Rumours are also flying about the potentials who could be included in the Cabinet expected to be formed next week.
